Self-Censorship

I’m not scared of anything that is currently going on in our society except this mechanism…

Its described in a story I read that was a metaphor about a mythical civilisation.

In the civilisation everybody was constantly speaking a certain thing, and they were required to do that, they weren’t allowed to stop.

What’s scary right now is that in our civilisation, on social media, it seems like there’s this idea that everybody has to talk about certain topics right now and in certain ways.

Dissenting voices are getting more and more peer pressured, ostracised, ridiculed, condemned, criticised, et cetera.

Even those choosing to remain silent are attacked for their silence.

I find that to be the scariest thing; more than anything else going on in the world: what we’re doing to ourselves.
